"In the initial stages of this project, a theme, a kind of emotional clothesline, began to assert itself. Included in the very first line of Lois Heaton's evocative poem, 'Spirit Rapping', is the phrase "songs of home". For my father, now long deceased, and for me, the notion of home, despite tenements in Pawtucket and Providence's Smith Hill, always meant Ireland. His songs and stories defined my childhood and sent me back to Ireland again and again in search of more."
